How to Maximise Potential Earnings With Futures Trading on VALR?

Maximise potential earning with futures trading on VALR

At VALR, we are constantly running various promotions and trading competitions, including VALR’s Grand Slam of Trading Competitions, where traders can share a prize pool of up to 5,000,000 USDT per month.

In this article, we will explore the best strategies to come out as the winner in VALR’s volume-based competitions.

Let's get started!

How Do Futures Trading Competitions Work on VALR?

Currently, two crypto futures trading contests are live on VALR. The good news is that you can join both at the same time and have a chance to claim your share of USDT rewards.

In the sections below, we will explore the most important details of the contests, as well as how to participate in them.

The VALR Grand Slam

With up to 5 million USDT monthly, the VALR Grand Slam is a global futures trading programme with the largest prize pool of its kind in crypto history.

The competition takes place in several stages, with each phase beginning on the 1st of the calendar month at 0:00 a.m. UTC and ending at 23:59 a.m. UTC on the last day of the same calendar month. The current round has been live since June 1 and is expected to conclude on June 30.

In the VALR Grand Slam, traders' rankings are based on their cumulative monthly trading volume across all futures pairs. So, the more you trade, the higher the chances that you will be the winner in the current round.

One of the Grand Slam's most exciting aspects is its dynamic prize tiers. In practice, this means there are 10 different prize tiers, with higher tiers featuring larger prize pools and more winners. Higher tiers are achieved when the monthly perpetual futures trading volume on VALR increases.

There is no need to apply or fill out any forms to join the competition. Instead, you simply need to trade perpetual futures pairs on VALR to participate in the Grand Slam.

It's important to note that each tier has a minimum monthly volume requirement, which you must reach to qualify for a share in the prize pool. Be sure to check the Grand Slam's dashboard to see the requirements for the current stage.

In addition to a share in the prize pool, you can also earn VIP futures trading fee rebates to enhance your profitability if you trade more than 2% of VALR's total monthly exchange volume (including spot and futures pairs).

The VALR World Futures Trading Competition

In addition to the Grand Slam, you can also join the VALR World Futures Trading Competition to share in a prize pool of up to 50,000 USDT. The higher your trading volume, the better your chances of winning USDT rewards are.

VALR world future trading competiton

Similar to the Grand Slam, the World Futures Trading Competition also has dynamic prize tiers, but while the Grand Slam moves up the tiers based on the total Futures volume on VALR as a whole, the World Futures Competition moves up the tiers as more “active traders” join.

Active traders are users who have successfully registered to the World Futures Trading Competition and have traded a minimum perpetual futures trading volume of $10,000 during the entire competition period. Even if you sign up to the competition after the starting date of the competition, your volume will be counted from the first day of the trading contest.

The current World Futures Trading Competition started on June 10 and will end June 30, 2024. Fill out this form to join the contest!

3 Strategies to Raise Your Chances at Winning

Below, we have listed three strategies that you can leverage to increase your chances of coming out as the winner in VALR's futures trading contests.

What’s important to note here, is that these are not formal recommendations nor should anything here be interpreted as financial advice. Futures trading comes with the risk of loss or liquidation.

The strategies below are only a few of many ways traders can increase their chances of rising in the ranks.

1. Go Long and Short on Your Subaccounts

Subaccounts on VALR are generated in addition to your main exchange account, allowing you to organise your crypto portfolio for different strategies and purposes.

To increase your futures trading volume and maximise your chances of becoming one of the top-performing traders, you could follow a so-called delta-neutral strategy where you go long on a Futures pair on a subaccount while shorting the same pair on another subaccount at the same time.

By doing so, you could potentially generate a decent amount of volume while also significantly limiting risk.

2. Day Trading

Since VALR's competitions are won by those with the highest volumes, day trading could be an optimal strategy for increasing your chances. This way, you can raise your futures trading volume each time you open and close a trade on VALR.

For example, opening a $1,000 position on the first of the month and closing it on the last day of the same month might yield a profit but the overall volume generated is unlikely to rank higher than those who trade actively, even if they trade with less capital.

On the other hand, your monthly futures trading volume would increase exponentially if you opened and closed the same $1,000 position each day of the month for 30 days in total.

It will be important to be tactful, rather than opening and closing trades arbitrarily.

3. Trade With Your Friends With Shared Account Access

VALR enables you to trade with your friends within the same account with the Shared accounts feature.

By giving trade access to people you trust, they will be able to trade on designated subaccounts, generating a higher volume for the main account and substantially increasing your chances of scoring a top spot in the leaderboards of VALR's futures trading competitions.

Before embarking on this path, however, we would urge you to study VALR’s extensive governance features and how Shared Accounts work, also in terms of permissions. For example, you might allow a fully-verified friend to trade on a sub-account, but you might want to disable withdrawals.
